What does a past connection really mean?
What kind of life is that person living now?
Is the person I once knew the same as the person they are today?
People change over time. If so, is it even possible to revive an old connection?
And even if it is possible, would it truly be meaningful?
Or would it merely be a futile attempt—two people who have already become different beings, connected only by memory?
When I find myself longing for someone, I often ask this:
Do I truly miss that person, or do I miss the sense of comfort they once gave me?
The problem is that I cannot clearly identify the nature of my own emotions.
Without knowing whether what I feel is obsession, attachment, or simply a craving for familiarity, time keeps passing.
Not knowing what that feeling really is makes me anxious.
I believed I knew myself well, yet at the most important moments, I am faced with a version of myself who doesn’t even know what they want.
At times like that, life feels painfully short—
as if I am letting each day slip by without truly understanding the self I ought to know.
Looking back, time has never flowed evenly.
Some periods feel incredibly short in memory, while others linger for a long time.
The difference seems to lie in the density of memory.
The speed of life is determined by how many vivid memories it contains.
When there is little to remember, the past collapses into a few scenes and feels as though it passed in an instant.
When memories are rich, revisiting the past feels long and vivid each time.
Perhaps a good life is one filled with memorable scenes.
Those scenes do not have to be positive.
Sometimes they were painful—but what matters is the unmistakable sense that I was truly alive.
In the end, what matters most is knowing what I genuinely like.
A life filled with what one loves naturally increases the density of memory.
Yet I still don’t really know what I like.
So I return to the beginning again.
Was it that person I wanted?
Was it the version of myself I was when I was with them?
Or was it the density of memory—the feeling that I was truly alive at that time?
And so, today as well, I continue to explore myself.
So that this short life may be lived a little more slowly,
and remembered more clearly.
