The Violence of Discreteness and the Mystery of the Void: "1" Never Flows Into "2"

The Abyss of Continuity and the Crevices of Creation Concealed by Natural Numbers

We are taught that 2 follows 1, but in truth, this is a leap—an omission. Natural numbers are nothing more than a "dotted line" created by abruptly hacking away at the smooth curves of the world. Between 1 and 2 lies an infinite ocean of decimals, and to cross that ocean, the universe expends a monumental amount of causal energy. When we look straight from 1 to 2, it means we have exiled the myriad variables existing in between to the realm outside our cognition. Therefore, phenomena that appear to be a "collapse of causality" are not actually ruptures in cause and effect; rather, they are illusions born because human computation is too crude to capture the microscopic, intricate connecting links of that causality.

Not Creation from Nothing, but a Transition from the "Unread" to the "Visible"

Consider the moment 0 becomes 1: the fleeting instant a pregnant sheep gives birth to finally become "2," or the split second vacuum parts are assembled into a finished product of "1." This is no magic trick of creating existence out of nothingness. It is merely that a state of chaos, which human observational apparatus (the system of natural numbers) had categorized as "not yet 1," has crossed a certain threshold to enter the status of "finally recognized as 1." What we call "nothingness" is, in reality, a fertile chaos that has not yet been translated into our style of numbers. Causality does not collapse; it merely alters its form from the microscopic world we fail to see into the macroscopic world.

The Truth Missed by Numbers: Causality Is a "Flow," Not a "Node"

We feel as though causality is breaking down because we perceive cause and effect as a series of "natural-number events." Thinking that "Event A (1) occurred, therefore Event B (2) follows" is an attitude that treats the universe like a set of Lego blocks. Yet, the actual causality of the universe flows like a fluid. 1 and 2 are merely flags we have arbitrarily planted upon that current.

The microscopic vibrations unfolding in the fleeting transient between those flags are the true substance of causality. When we ignore these flashes of vibration, the universe appears magical; but the moment we affirm them, the universe reveals itself as an exquisite mechanism that never rests for a single second.

The Universe as an Expansion, Not a Collapse

Ultimately, the realization that 2 does not simply follow 1 is not a collapse of causality, but a surrender to the limitations of human cognition. That wondrous crevice where existence appears to spring from nothingness is precisely where the vitality of a reality—unimprisoned by the narrow framework of natural numbers—breathes and thrives.

While we desperately desire to neatly organize the world into "1, 2, 3," the universe is busy writing a far more dynamic causality within the infinite voids between those numbers. The "terror of collapse" you feel is, in truth, the awe experienced when witnessing the immensity of genuine nature breaking through the artificial order manufactured by man. Numbers stand still, but existence flows. The moment you surrender yourself to that current, you will discover your own unique value within the infinite possibilities between 0 and 1. That is not the site where causality crumbles, but the most fervent frontier where a new world is ceaselessly conceived.
