“Equality is a discourse of the weak.” This sentence is uncomfortable, yet it contains an honest insight. Throughout history, equality has indeed been the most powerful logical weapon wielded by the marginalized to check the excess power of the strong and secure their right to exist. If we were mere predators in a jungle where only the strong survive, equality would be nothing more than a cumbersome hindrance. However, as “intelligent” human beings, our perspective on equality must evolve from “pity” to the dimension of “survival and expansion.”

A Minimum Safety Net to Prevent the Isolation of Excellence

If equality is understood simply as “dividing everything exactly the same,” it could, as the skeptic suggests, become a tool for downward leveling that holds back the strong. However, the true value of equality lies in the “opening of opportunity for anyone to become strong.” In a society where class is fossilized, a slave with genius-level intellect spends their entire life tilling fields before dying. From the perspective of the species, this is an immense intellectual loss.

The reason we must strive for equality is not out of pity for the weak, but to unearth “excellence” wherever it may be hidden. Equality is the soil that ensures every seed has at least the chance to sprout. A structure where the strong monopolize everything may be efficient in the short term, but in the long term, it withers the seeds of innovation and leads to the stagnation of the species.

A Mirror to Control the Runaway Ego

The strong are prone to becoming intoxicated by their own power and falling into the swamp of “ego-inflation.” The moment one believes their power is entirely due to their own merit, they forget the complex web of causality and luck that surrounds them. The discourse of equality acts as a mirror, reminding the strong of the chilling truth: “You, too, are part of a system, and you cannot maintain your excellence without the cooperation of others.”

Intellect begins with acknowledging that no single individual can monopolize the universe. Equality is the minimum intellectual brake that prevents the strong from deifying themselves and falling into infantile dogma. Accepting that even the strong are finite human beings—that is the “humility of equality” as defined by the intellect.

Trust in the Network for Infinite Expansion

Innovation in modern society happens not through a single hero, but through the connection of countless intellects. The core fuel for this network is “trust.” Sharing knowledge and cooperation only occur when members share a sense of equality: “This system is fair, and I can receive just treatment at any time.”

Where equality collapses, distrust and cynicism reign; all energy is consumed not in cooperation, but in “extortion” and “defense.” Ultimately, the reason we must pursue equality is not because it is morally right, but because it is the most efficient social technology for infinitely expanding the intellectual territory of humanity.

Closing Thoughts

Equality may have begun as a discourse born from the tears of the weak. However, it was the shrewd and great intellect of humanity that adopted and developed that discourse. Through history, humanity learned that protecting the weak is the way to secure the diversity of the species, and checking the strong is the way to prevent the collapse of the system.

Therefore, equality is not jealousy directed at the strong, but an intellectual contract—a promise not to let go of each other’s hands in the face of the “Great Unknown.” When we treat each other as equals, we can finally escape the exhaustive competition of climbing the class ladder and work together to build a ladder long enough to lean against the even greater wall of the universe. Equality is not a consolation for the weak; it is the essential intellectual equipment humanity must possess to advance toward the realm of the Divine.
