What “The Price of Freedom” Fails to Explain
We have a familiar explanation for evil:
“Because humans have free will.”
“Because someone chose it.”
But this language always belongs
to the perpetrator — not the victim.
Because in reality, much suffering falls
not on those who made choices,
but on those who did not.
Child abuse, war, poverty, violence, neglect, exploitation —
these are not the victims’ choices.
They were simply inside a structure.
The phrase “the price of freedom”
explains nothing about unjust suffering.
God Cannot Be Unaware of This Structure
Faith now enters an uncomfortable zone.
If God is omnipotent,
He knows who the perpetrators are,
who the victims are,
and who bears responsibility.
And yet the structure is not dismantled immediately.
This is not indifference.
Scripture calls this state the delay of justice.
The present world is not the courtroom where justice is executed —
it is the courtroom where evidence is collected.
We Are Living in the Time of an Unfinished Trial
Scripture repeatedly says:
“Vengeance is mine; you shall not repay.”
This is not merely moral advice.
It is closer to a legal declaration:
“This case is still under trial.”
“The verdict has not yet been issued.”
So in reality, perpetrators appear unpunished,
and victims appear unprotected.
But in the biblical view, this is not a world without justice —
it is a world where justice is deferred.
The Wronged Are Not Abandoned — They Are Pending Cases
This sentence is uncomfortable.
In the present world,
the wronged are not restored.
They remain without compensation, recovery, or explanation.
But faith does not see them as abandoned persons.
It sees them as parties in cases
whose verdict has not yet been issued.
Their suffering is not forgotten —
it is recorded as unresolved evidence.
Justice Begins When This World Ends
The harshest sentence of Christian faith is this:
Justice is not completed in this world.
Justice begins when this world ends.
This world is not a system of healing —
it is a structure preparing for judgment.
And so this faith does not offer
instant comfort,
but the architecture of responsibility
that remains to the end.
